Violent rituals, strange symbolism, unexplained kidnappings and serial killings bring Anne Hudson back to the Deadview police force after a tumultuous five year absence.
Though she tries to convince herself otherwise, it seems the past is still a wicked tormentor, digging it’s claws into her back.
Will Anne be able to contend with everything she signed up for or will the case, and a killer, take her out once and for all?
Excerpt
“Just before she mentally collapsed, a figure sprinted by in her peripheral vision. Instinctively, Anne stopped in her tracks and snapped her head towards the movement, heart threatening to burst through her parka.
A faceless figure in all black froze in the back yard of the house to her left, a sharp contrast to the white snow. It’s unnatural body was certainly of human descent, but inherently more animal than sapien. It crouched silently, hands splayed out as if making a mockery of mimes.
This creature was an unfortunately familiar sight. Anne squeezed her eyes shut, inhaled and counted to ten. Only then did she dare a second look.
It had disappeared.”
